Slack

WHAT IS SLACK?

We toss around a lot of ideas and emails that require opinions. Slack would be really helpful in organizing our email inboxes!

    • Slack is a place where your team comes together to collaborate, important information can be found by the right people, and your tools pipe in information when and where you need it.
    • Slack is essentially a chat room for your whole company, designed to replace email as your primary method of communication and sharing.
    • Its workspaces allow you to organize communications by channels for group discussions and allows for private messages to share information, files, and more all in one place.
    • Slack has apps included that allow for meeting scheduling, project management, creating polls, and more.
    • It's hard to describe, but it's AWESOME.

public channels

  • Public Channels are open to your entire team.
  • All messages within a public channel are automatically archived and searchable by everyone.
  • You can identify public channels by the “#” hashtag icon next to their names.

private channels

  • Private channels are not open to everyone in your workspace; team members have to be invited to join a private channel to view, search, and participate in that channel’s discussion.
  • Private channels have a lock icon next to their names.

HOW DO I START USING slack?

Download it! There are apps for both Windows and Mac. Downloading the app on your computer (and your phone if you wish!) will allow you to use it to the fullest extent- when you are connected to internet it will automatically send you notifications rather than having to open and log in to a browser window.

EmployIndy already has a workspace! You'll be invited to join automatically when you sign up with your EmployIndy email address.
