On this page, employees will find the steps necessary for coding a resident key card.
Dorma Kaba or "Kaba" as we call it, is the electronic access software we use to secure our resident apartment doors.
Key Cards can be correctly coded by the steps below:
On the laptop specifically used to code keys, log in and click on the App that says "RezShieldSuite".
On the home screen of the RezShield app, there is link at the top that says "Click here to create keys". Once you click the link, you will open the app to a number of different options.
On this screen, you will be able to see all the functions possible for the Kaba system. On the upper left hand you need to click "Resident Access" to begin making a resident key.
On this screen, you will select the exact resident unit the key is to be made for. Townhouse apartments have 3 units in them. First select which bedroom in the townhouse the key is being made for.
On this step, click the drop-down tab that says "Locks" and select the building the key is being made for. After you have finished this step click next.
On this screen, you will select the time in which you want the key to start and when the key card will expire. Set the expiration to the date the resident's lease ends. After you have finished this step click Next.
On this page, you will see an option to select the amenities available for resident use. Click "Select All" to give residents access to the community center. When you have finished this step click Next.
For this step, the employee will grab a new key card for coding. Place the keycard face up on the coding platform. When you have finished this step refer to Step 9.
On the final step after the employee has placed the key card on the platform, click on "Encode Key". The process should only take a few seconds until you hear a CHIRP noise.
