In our school, there are students from 13 to 18 years old, as well as 3 adults, summing up 37 students and 16 teachers. We are more like a family. We have mainly regular courses. Our school does not have any previous experience with the Erasmus+.
Our school is located in Paranesti, a village 36 kilometres away from Drama, a city in northern Greece. It is located just beside the river Nestos (from which it has taken its name) and in the mountains of Rodopi and the Virgin forest of Frakto.
Despite its beauty, not many people live in Paranesti mostly for the lack of job opportunities. As a result our students do not have many opportunities to gain the advantages of living in a multicultural environment. Thus their involvement in this project would be an invaluable chance for them not only to know their own culture better but also to come in touch with other countries’ cultures as well.
The group of teachers who will be engaged in the activities of this project teach Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Geography, English, History, and Greek. The teachers to be involved in this project are open-minded people, understand and speak English, use ICTs to communicate and teach and use varied and innovative methods in the classroom.
Teacher Christina Terzopoulou (me), the Erasmus coordinator, is an English teacher. For the proposed project, we have a multidisciplinary team of committed teachers ready to start working on it. Mr. Ioannidis the director and Maths teacher, Mr. Dedousis teacher of Ancient Greek and Latin, Mrs. Xanthopoulou and Mrs. Griva - both Greek and History teachers, Mr. Prokopiou-the French teacher.
Although we do not have previous experience we are very eager to learn and willing to work hard for the success of the project.
Our region has a tradition of folk dances and a Cultural Folklore Association here in Paranesti which will be much of an assistant to our work. Moreover, the whole region of Drama is rich in tradition and customs because of the diversity of the people who have inhabited the place throughout the centuries and we believe we have much to gain but also much to offer to this project .
