Flexibility

SPOT THE RULE GAME

A friend calls out to you as you are working on a complicated task.

They immediately start asking about your recent trip to the coast. You were deeply immersed in your work but you answer your friend's questions happily. When they leave after a few minutes you turn your attention back to your work.

This capacity to switch between very different tasks is often referred to as mental flexibility. This capacity is very important to function in social and work environments filled with competing demands.
