ABOUT ME
ABOUT ME
WHO AM I?
My name is Katie Pollitt, I am the Head of Events at RE•WORK, working on international technology conferences having worked my way up from an entry-level role when starting in 2016. I graduated from the University of Chester in 2015 and achieved a 2:1 in Events Management.
Mentoring was never something I had come across until I worked on a mentoring scheme as part of my job for Women in AI. Having realised the benefits and impacts such a programme could have for the Mentees involved, I thought about how useful a similar thing would have been for me when it came to starting my own career post-graduation within the events industry.
I had no idea what direction to go or where to start and I would have jumped at the chance to have heard from industry professionals for an insight into their roles and also those in my situation before me who have now started their career, in order to find areas of the industry that interested me the most and to therefore seek out the endless possibilities this sector has to offer.
So here we are!
WHAT SKILLS DO I HAVE?
My general work experience is in Events Management and working on events from start to finish whilst also dipping into sales, sponsorship, and marketing. Additionally I have experience of working for a small company, managing people and teams, adapting to various roles, and managing events during COVID19.
Having played parts in recruitment, I can also advise on perfecting CV's and interview skills.
I was listed as a winner on both M&IT's Tomorrow's Talent and the CN30underThirty in 2021.
I am also hoping to develop new skills from being a mentor myself, the main one being public speaking (!) and also managing people outside of my work environment.
