About Me
My name is Emma Todd and I am a health services management student at the IU Fairbanks School of Public Health. The education and experiences I have had during my time as an undergraduate student have prepared me to take the next steps as a professional. I have always had a passion for empowering women, and I am excited to pursue a career in this field that allows me to do that!

Why Health Services Management?

I have wanted to work in healthcare for as long as I can remember. I really only knew about the clinical side of medicine, so I applied to colleges as a biology major. I thought going to medical school and becoming a doctor was the only way I could achieve my goal of working in healthcare. As dedicated to this path as I was, the whole time I had doubts in my mind about it. I decided on IUPUI because of the great connections for students interested in the medical field, but was completely unaware of the other options there were.

Right before I attended orientation, I knew I needed to switch my major. I did some research online about health-related degrees at IUPUI and happened to stumble on the School of Public Health. I read a little bit about it, and impulsively decided to change my major to environmental health. I wasn't even sure if that was what I wanted to do, but I was excited about this new school. When I attended orientation, I talked to my advisor about some of my life aspirations and what kind of work I could see myself doing. We decided that health services management would give me the opportunity to go after any of my goals, and I have been loving it ever since!
