Emma Strong is a South African born multi-disciplinary artist, with an Honours degree (cum laude) in Fine Art, with a focus on interactive installation and video-based performance art.

Her work is led by the (deep) imaginary, exploring the boundaries edge of the real and the unreal. The act of play and sleep-dreaming guide her illustrations and 3-dimensional ephemeral practices. Strong is interested in the absence and presence of woman's bodies in spaces, often using time-based performances to navigate this (non)space.

Strong graduated from Stellenbosch University with a distinction in BA(Visual Arts), majoring in Fine Art, in December 2023. In the same year, Strong attended the Tankwa Artscape Residency, working with rocks, cloth and body.

In 2024, Strong moved to the United Kingdom to work as a studio artist and gallery assistant for the Greenman Gallery. She exhibited in The Greenman Gallery and Saan1 in Manchester. Her South African-based land/body art was published in An Ode to Walking in PLOD (Manchester) and Memento in Chill-Mag (New York). Strong explored land/body art in the UK and continued her video and two-dimensional practice whilst backpacking across India, Nepal and Thailand.

Strong returned to Cape Town in 2025 to work as the set designer for an interactive dance production at The Outlore Base in March 2025. She resides in Stellenbosch, hosting bi-weekly Life Drawing sessions. Her work travelled to Poznan, Poland to be a part of a travelling group show, in collaboration with the Gallery of the University of Stellenbosch (GUS).
