My name is Emmanuel Erhabor, and I am a senior electrical engineering student at the University of Virginia. When I'm not in school, I live in Maryland with my parents and siblings, two of which went to UVA before me. My passion for engineering started in middle school when I joined the Sound Department at my church and was given the opportunity to work hands-on with electronics. From there I nurtured that interest in high school by joining the Robotics team and enrolling in the Science and Technology Program they offered.
The basic engineering skills like problem solving, soldering and wiring that I learned during my time there helped me choose electrical engineering as my major upon coming to college. Throughout my years at the University of Virginia, I sharpened my skills and broadened my horizons by learning several programming languages, undertaking rigorous course loads and working as a Computer Science Aid with a professor.
The lifeblood of the Electrical Engineering program at my school is the various unique and applied projects we complete as part of our courses. Whether it's a semester long project that we work towards bit by bit, or a final culminating summation of the everything we've learned, the experience is unforgettable. You can find some of the projects that have shaped my journey as an engineer below:
