Emma began dancing at the age of 2, although her mother would claim it was even earlier! It was quickly known by her whole family that she was a disciplined and confident performer. At her first recital, there was not a smile in sight and no need for the assistants on the side of the stage, she knew exactly what to do and who she was!
Yearning to perform in front of an audience, her studio training quickly brought on the competitive world, while also being in search of non competitive outlets. Joining the Rutgers University Junior Knights Dance Team opened up a new stylistic door, yet to be explored. That brought her to Muhlenberg College, where she could train in her favorite styles of ballet and modern, while staying in touch with her commercial styles through the Perkulators Commercial Jazz Team and other hip hop and jazz opportunities.
She gained choreographic experience through the Perkulators and various concert opportunities at Muhlenberg including a fully student produced musical, fundraising concert, and sorority lip sync battle. Not always knowing what's to be expected in the time after college, she can’t wait to see where her dance future may lead!
As a performer and someone who grew up on a stage, I bring my everything, every time. I pride myself on being a “sponge” with always having more to learn, absorb, and comprehend. I have been trained to pick up choreography quickly and to retain any modifications and adjustments. My built-up stamina allows for lengthy performances without appearing winded, a benefit to my precision and attention to detail when it comes to detailed choreography. I have a love for cross-training and different physical activities, allowing for alternative conditioning and strength development than traditional dance classes, which I believe prevents injuries in the long term.
As a choreographer, I strive to create work from my own experience by sharing stories I feel strongly about. I find such joy working closely with the dancers to grow a trusting connection with them, while giving them the ability to feel as if the work is their own. Leading with joy and positivity allows the practice to take part in a welcoming space, and develop the collaborative processes. It is a goal of mine to make sure the dancers are having fun with the choreography, or at least able to connect with it to develop their own performance quality and allow their character to shine.
