Emma Jean was born on July 10, 1932, in Washington. She was the daughter of Roy and Vivian Israel Gocker. She married Verland D. Bachman in Washington on August 18, 1951, and he passed away on May 6, 1995.
Em was the proud owner and operator of Em's Beauty Bar, a beloved establishment in Washington that has served countless patrons over the years. Her dedication to her craft and customers earned her the prestigious Washingtonian Award in 1988, a testament to her excellence in service and entrepreneurship. Emma's commitment to her community was further recognized when she was named Honorary Washingtonian of the Year in 1986, reflecting her unwavering spirit of giving and engagement.
A member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Emma's faith was a cornerstone of her life.
