Prof. Emília completed her doctoral degree in Mathematics at the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) in 2016. Her scientific interests are at the intersection of algebraic and geometric structures, with applications. Emília's research agenda includes, but is not limited to, the homotopy type of spaces of locally convex curves in the sphere, the study of Bruhat cells and CW complexes.
Emília joined faculty at Universidade Federal Fluminense in December 2020 and her collaboration network involves colleagues based both in Brazil and abroad.
