Emirates' baggage policy can be quite confusing when it comes to its allowance for carry-on baggage, using the words "handbags" instead of "standard carry-on" or "overhead bags." These "handbags" however, carry the same size restrictions that we usually find assigned to standard carry-on bags.
In addition, we have presented information on the maximum weight and size allowance for your baggage, which is highly variable depending on the base fare.

Heavy concept flight, Economy Special: 20 kg (33 lbs), Economy Saver: 25 kg (44 lbs), Flex: 30 kg (66 lbs), Flex Plus: 35 kg (77 lbs), free. Business: 40 kg (88 lbs). First: 50 kg (110 lbs).
The weight can be distributed across as many bags as you like. Items must not exceed 300 cm (118 in) in total dimensions. No single bag can weigh more than 32 kg (70 lbs).
On flights within the Americas and within the US and Europe, allowances are based on the 'piece concept'. Premium Economy and Saver passengers are allowed to check one bag up to 23 kg (50 lbs), free of charge; Flex and Flex Plus customers can check two pieces, weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs) each; First and Business class passengers are allowed two bags of up to 32 kg (70 pounds) each.
Total bag dimensions on 'one piece concept' flights must not exceed 150 cm (59 in). If the size is too large, up to 300 cm (118 in), a fee will apply.
If you want to buy additional baggage allowance, a large fee must be paid. This varies by route and fare type.
On a flight between Australia and Africa, for example, you would expect to pay USD50 for each kg over this flight allowance. For 'one piece concept' flights, it will cost USD250 for an additional piece of luggage.
Those traveling with infants are allowed to check additional baggage free of charge, as long as it does not exceed 10 kg (22 lbs), on most Emirates flights excluding routes to and from destinations in the Americas and Africa. On routes to and from the Americas and Africa one cabin bag not exceeding 22 by 15 by 8 inches (55 by 38 by 20 centimeters) maximum 5 kg (11 pounds) is allowed free of charge, no additional checked baggage allowance is provided.
Baby cots or pushchairs can also be brought as checked baggage, or checked in, for free.
Unusual items such as sports equipment and musical instruments can usually be carried as standard baggage, depending on weight and size.
