Hey guys! I’m Nicole, a Year 11 student from St. Paul’s Co-educational College. I’ve been participating in local, international, and university-level MUN conferences as a Secretariat, chair, and delegate for three years. In previous years, I have been part of elderly service programs, children summer school programs and was part of the Girl Guides. I think Hong Kong lacks enough awareness to LGBT+ discrimination and provides insufficient LGBT+ rights protection, so I’m hoping to voice out for the LGBT+ community and ultimately legalize LGBT+ marriage in Hong Kong. While society is starting to acknowledge the importance of gender equality, I think there are still major stereotypes of genders and adequate representation of all genders is lacking. Serving as the President and Head of Media Team in Emine Association, I hope Emine allows society to recognize the importance of gender equality and LGBT+ rights.

I’m Gloria Ly, and I study at Diocesan Girls’ School. I’m passionate about public speaking, debating and learning about social affairs. I’ve accumulated a lot of experience from participating in various public speaking contests and MUN conferences previously, and am currently a part of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association, where I am provided with opportunities to develop and grow as a person, as well as contribute to our society through community service. Gender inequality still exists today, and I hope to raise awareness of this critical issue through Emine. I believe that this is a great opportunity for me to give back to society and help make it a safer place for people of all genders. Serving as the Head of Outreach in the Emine Association, I hope to increase public awareness and knowledge about important social issues to help achieve equality in all aspects.

Hi! I’m Kylie, a Form 4 student studying at Diocesan Girls’ School. I’ve been actively participating in MUN conferences for three years, which has helped me build up my confidence in public speaking. I’ve also been passionate about destigmatizing mental health and have been working with Mind HK to provide LGBTQ+ mental health support. I think that our society should be more aware of the rights of the LGBTQ+ community. Although Hong Kong is always seen as a free international city, our laws and culture on LGBTQ+ issues are much more backward than some less developed societies. I hope that Emine will allow more people to join the fight to achieve gender equality. As the Head of Logistics Team in Emine Association, I wish to play a role in building a place where every member of the LGBTQ+ family has the freedom to live their truth without fear, and with equality under the law.

Hey everyone! I’m Bill, a Year 11 student at Diocesan Boys’ School. I’m avid about speech, and I’ve been participating in multiple MUN conferences, public speaking and debate competitions for 5 years. I’ve also been involved in different service programs, whether it’s distributing dinner boxes to the needy, or tutoring underprivileged children. With regards to the LGBTQIA+ climate in Hong Kong, a lot more should be done to better the situation,be it legislation or protection. And while the world collectively drives towards change in gender inequality, the issue isn’t fully rectified, with things like workplace inequality and stereotypes still prevalent. As your head of technical team, I hope through Emine, you’re able to join us in this discussion and are able to empower yourself and those around you.
