Summer 2025
Argentina: Society, Politics and International Relations
I attended this four-week study abroad program in Buenos Aires, Argentina with Dr. Gabriela Hoberman, in which I took the following courses: LAS3002 Intro to Latin American and Caribbean Studies and INR3243 International Relations of Latin America. The program is designed to foster an understanding of these courses through the experience of living and studying in the city through an interdisciplinary approach.
This program marked the first time in my life that I had lived away from my family. Arriving to Buenos Aires, I'll never forget the fear I had at the thought of exploring a new city all on my own with friends I had yet to meet. Students from the program were paired up with homestay families, which was another experience I was very apprehensive about.
I fell in love with the city, the people and the culture. I was shocked at how quickly I had gotten accustomed to it all— living in a walkable city without a car, having to try new food every day and speaking to people with an entirely different dialect of Spanish.
Besides the rich academic experience, I left that city knowing more about myself and my abilities than I knew before I arrived. I am so much more capable than I give myself credit for. I'll never forget this trip as it was one of the most special times of my life.
