Audience Analysis

My target audience is other honors students at High Point University. Because of how my website is a little more personal, I think this could be a good thing to show freshmen or even students at Presidential Scholar Weekend to showcase the ideas and values that will develop over the four years student spend at High Point University. Furthermore, because of my honesty regarding personal struggles, I think other students would find comfort in reading about another student. Because of these personal notes, I do not think my audience should be future employers. I think my tone is a little too personal for them. However, I really think incoming college students would be a good audience.

Incoming students generally have a huge variety of morals and values. I think they would appreciate reading the manifestos – particularly how I have grown through college. Most students are thrilled about coming to college, but most of them are also a little nervous because they do not know what to expect. I think my website is a good portrayal of my personal experiences as a freshman. I also think that because my interests – particularly that of fantasy – is a little unique, it adds a layer of creativity. I admit that I have not done as much in research as I would like to, but I do not think it makes me any less of a student. I am still curious, and my love of fantasy and writing showcases that curiosity.

Given my previous points, I think my goal with this website is to help educate incoming students about what to expect from the Honors Program at High Point University. If my personal experiences (positive and negative) can serve as a comfort to other people, that would be ideal. I do not think my website needs much editing to accomplish my goal. Given how I have always maintained honesty in my writings, I think I accomplished my target audience before even knowing what my target audience was. This ties back to our conversations about the greater good. While this website may not be geared towards future schools or employers, I may make another website that appeals to those audiences as well. I would make my website much less personal for professional purposes. I do not want future schools and/or employers knowing about my personal struggles before they even know me. I would rather present myself in a professional light. However, I think this vulnerability will be appealing to other students.
