Emily Kracht

Anthropology Graduate Student at UCSB

Biography

Emily is a (beginning Fall 2022) Anthropology PhD student and NSF GRFP Fellow in Douglas Kennett's Stable Isotope and AMS 14C Dating Preparation Lab. She is an alumna of the University of Florida, graduating in Spring of 2021 with a summa cum laude degree in Anthropology (BA) and a cum laude degree in Chemistry (BS). She is a former collections assistant at the Florida Museum of Natural History, working at the Ceramic Technology Lab, the Caribbean Archaeology Program, and the North Florida Archaeology Program conducting ceramic research and NAGPRA work. 

Emily's research interests include ceramics, Caribbean and Bahamas archaeology, island and coastal environments, archaeometry and material analysis, human-environment interactions, public/community outreach in archaeology. 

She has field work experience at sites in The Bahamas (Long Island and Abaco), Florida, and California Channel Islands. She has conducted lab and collections-based work since early 2019 at the Florida Museum within Caribbean Archaeology, The Ceramic Technology Lab, and North Florida Archaeology.
