Emily is an Anthropology PhD student and NSF GRFP Fellow in Douglas Kennett's Stable Isotope and AMS 14C Dating Preparation Lab at UC- Santa Barbara (UCSB). She is an alumna of the University of Florida, with degrees in Anthropology (BA) and Chemistry (BS). She is a former collections assistant at the Florida Museum of Natural History, working at the Ceramic Technology Lab, the Caribbean Archaeology Program, and the North Florida Archaeology Program conducting ceramic research and NAGPRA work. In 2024, she received her MA in Anthropology at UCSB.
Emily's research interests include ceramics, exchange, social inequality, Caribbean archaeology, island and coastal environments, archaeometry and material analysis, and public/community outreach in archaeology. She has field work experience at sites in The Bahamas (Long Island and Abaco), Florida, and California Channel Islands, and Mississippi. She has also used collections material across the world in her research, primarily in the Americas.Â
