For my poster, I wanted to use a color scheme of light pink and blue (like cotton candy) as well as light green, blue, and black accents to add emphasis. I had to figure out how to use linked images as well as embed images in the poster, having to go through photoshop to edit them before placing them onto the poster. I watched the tutorial given in class on how to make the poster as well as the simple poster design step-by-step video. In the tutorials, I also learned how to create boxes to hold color and type, place images and create a container or box, using the links panel to edit imagery, and working with character and paragraph formatting controls to design the type. This was a simple piece meant to figure out the basics of the program, but I still think that the outcome of my experimentation was cute.
The goal of this project was to create a publication design that is the quality of something that could be in a magazine. The main design considerations I used for this piece were hierarchy, color, typography, and contrast. This project taught me how to use various aspects of the InDesign program, such as grids, columns, rows, type, rules, images, drop caps, character and paragraph formatting controls, and wrapping text around an image. I learned how to create this assignment by watching the instructions given in class.
