Here in EMI Research Group, we study how students learn and engage in English-medium instruction (EMI) classrooms, and explore pedagogical approaches that best support both students and teachers. Our goal is to bridge research with practice, helping teachers make evidence-based decisions that improve learning outcomes and build inclusive, engaging, and effective bilingual learning environments.

The Framework guides the comprehensive trajectory of the research from EMI Research Division within NTUST's Office of Bilingual Education Initiatives. This holistic framework captures the multifaceted influences of EMI as an educational policy across interconnected levels—from foundational policy ideology at the macro level, through institutional mediation at the meso level, to dynamic classroom interactions at the micro level. Central to the framework is the teacher-learner relationship, surrounded by immediate classroom processes of interaction, instruction, language use, and assessment, all embedded within broader transversal processes that include cognitive dynamics, affective engagement, and sociocultural circulation. Supporting elements such as curriculum development, policy implementation and analysis, quality assurance, program evaluation, institutional governance, and transitional support further enrich this ecology, reflecting our dedication to generating evidence-based insights that strengthen bilingual education and advance NTUST's goals for internationalized higher education.
