Ui-Ju's research field is nitrification, especially culture-based research of the soil ammonia-oxidizing archaea, comammox, nitrite-oxidizing bacteria, and plant-AOA interaction. Recently, he has been working on acidic soil nitrite-oxidizing bacteria enrichment and isolation. After work, he enjoys playing baseball.

Yongman completed a Bachelor of Science degree with Honors in Microbiology and a master's degree in Environmental Microbiology at Chungbuk National University. His master's degree at EMGL was focused on studying metabolically versatile methanotrophs in acidic environments such as hot springs, and acidic mine drainages. His PhD study is focused on methanotrophy in Antarctica. In his free time, he enjoys travelling, music digging, and tea time, especially coffee. He is literally a coffee-killer!

After completing a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Microbiology at the University of Abuja, Aderonke joined EMGL as a recipient of the Global Korea Scholarship award, where she studies deep-branching non-AOA thaumarchaeal clades. She is also interested in the application of bioinformatics tools to the study of microbial ecology. In her spare time, you can find her watching cheesy romance dramas, analysing the lyrics of Hozier songs, or rereading the Throne of Glass series.

Jin-Sun completed his Bachelor's degree at Chungbuk National University as an undergraduate member of EMGL during which he focused on the enrichment of ammonia oxidizers from soil environments. Seongjun is a graduate student at the Department of Microbiology at Chungbuk National University. He joined EMGL due to his interest in environmental microbiology and biochemistry. He is currently researching marine ammonia oxidising archaea and bacteria.
When he has free time, he enjoys visiting art exhibitions or listening to music.
