Welcome to our OER focused on venture opportunities in Educational Neuroscience.
At its core, educational neuroscience connects two fields that didn’t always speak the same language: neuroscience (how the brain works) and education (how we teach and learn). The goal? To use what we now know about the brain to design smarter, more inclusive, and more effective learning experiences.
It started back in the 60s with a simple idea: using brain science to understand learning difficulties. Today, it helps us make sense of how we focus, remember, get overwhelmed, and regulate emotions, not just based on intuition, but real data.
In short, it’s a bridge between theory and practice. And thanks to new tech like wearables and AI-powered adaptive systems, that bridge is stronger than ever. This OER will walk you through how this is shaping the NeuroEdTech market right now (Gkintoni et. al. 2025).
Education is moving fast. Digital tools, AI, and new ways of learning are showing up everywhere. But are we actually designing learning in ways that match how the brain works?
Educational neuroscience helps us go from guess to fact. It gives us real insights into how attention, memory, emotion, and overload affect learning, and how to design better experiences around that.
And systems that learn, through AI or other methods, about the learner’s brain and train of thought, are becoming an interesting market in Edtech. What started in labs is now entering classrooms (Yayla, 2024).
✅ More personalized learning
✅ Better support for diverse learners
✅ Educational decisions based on data
✅Higher engagement
✅Learning backed by science
😑Privacy and surveillance concerns
😑Over-interpretation of data
😑Neuromyths and misuse
😑Equity gaps
😑Teacher overload or dependency.
😑Reductionist thinking
Let’s bust some myths!
When it comes to how we learn, not everything you’ve heard about the brain is actually backed by science. This quick activity will help you spot the difference between real neuroscience insights — and common misconceptions that sound smart but don’t hold up.
