EECE Cohort 2 Continued

Hello, I am Eliana Valdez. I currently live in Poncha Springs and get to see amazing views in my backyard. I just received my early childhood teacher certification. This will be possible by being a part of the second cohort of the Emerging Early Childhood Educators Program through the Chaffee County Early Childhood Council. Through this program, I have gained valuable skills across many levels to support children in my career. I have always been interested in being a teacher and love the idea of leaving a positive impact on someone’s life. Working in a center would allow me to grow little brains and pursue a passion of mine. The importance of ECE is something I will always advocate for. Being in a center also allows me to work during college and expand my knowledge on which age group I want to work with or thrive in. As an educator, I use my assets in my day-to-day life, focusing on intentionality.

Hello everyone! My name is Julia Crane, and I live in Salida, Colorado. I work as a teacher’s assistant at the Salida Early Childhood Center and provide childcare from my home during the summer. I have a passion for working with young children and helping them learn and grow through positive, meaningful experiences. My long-term goal is to earn my bachelor’s degree over the next four years and become a full-time elementary school teacher. I’m so thankful for everything I’ve learned and the connections I’ve made in the Emerging Early Childhood Educators Program

Cheryl Cuiksa is an early childhood educator at Salida Early Childhood Center with a passion for providing high-quality care and education for young children. She has just finished her teacher certifcate through the Emerging Early Childhood Educators Program and is continuing to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. She is committed to creating inclusive, play-based learning environments that support each child's unique growth and development. 

Cheryl values building strong, positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues while fostering communication, independence, and social-emotional development. She is dedicated to continuing her professional growth and advocating for inclusive practices that ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, belong, and succeed. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
