EMS certifications are good for two years. You must take an approved state refresher or complete continued education on the required National Registry of EMT NCCP topics for your level. In addition, you must complete continuing education in required National Registry of EMT Local hours AND Individual hours.
In Louisiana, you must renew your NREMT certification AND your Louisiana EMS license every time you renew your certification.
Louisiana follows the requirements outline by National Registry of EMTs.

The Louisiana Bureau of EMS has a reinstatement period available from April 1 to April 30 of the expiration year. This reinstatement period is not to be used as a one-month extension to the March 31 deadline. Actions for reinstatement after April 30 are outlined by the NREMT lapsed certification policy
Missed that opportunity for a traditional refresher? Verification of acceptance should be done with NREMT and Louisiana Bureau of EMS before.
