Taiyaki Japanese fish shaped waffles. Traditionally filled with red bean paste, invented in Tokyo in 1909 by Seijiro Kobe. Made to resemble red sea bream, a fish symbolizing good fortune. The name combines tai (sea bream) and yaki (baked or cooked). In my travels to Japan, taiyaki were a common treat sold near shines, it was wonderful. Im so happy that I could bring home one of my favorite things from Japan to share with the beautiful bitterroot community.Â
