Welcome to : DISNEY’S FROZEN JR. presented by ESPA!

Before auditioning for Frozen Jr., it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you watch the Broadway musical version of Frozen (available on Disney +  and some versions available on youtube). The musical is NOT the same as the original cartoon movie. While the main plot and characters stay the same, most songs have slight differences, some plot points and characters are also slightly different. Most importantly the musical is a broadway play and it focuses more on the Scandinavian culture as the origins of the story rather than simply copying the cartoon.For example- in the cartoon Anna is saved by trolls that turn into rocks, while in the musical we are introduced to a mystical norwegian tribal people to heal Anna’s ice injuries. Make sure that you are aware of these little differences and understand them so that you do not have expectations for the show that may not align with the script. 

Please take a look at the rehearsal schedule and contract and make sure that you can make a commitment to rehearsals and to the performance. Please also look at the monthly tuition,  required fees and costuming purchases. Please review these financial responsibilities and make sure you are aware of them before committing to the show. 

Before auditioning make sure you have taken a look at the character list and have practiced the sample scripts and songs. You will be required to turn in your audition form which includes your preferences for casting. There are several roles that do NOT have solo singing parts. If you are uncomfortable singing by yourself, you can indicate this on your form by preferring these roles.

General Rehearsal schedule:  

August 4th- December 16th  (Studio closed Oct. 5th and 6th, No rehearsal Nov. 24th and 25th, No rehearsal Dec. 15th)

Tuesday: Middle/High: 4:30-5:30   Elementary: 5:30-6:00 

Wednesday: All 5:45-7:15

ESPA Company Contract

I agree to be a member of the Frozen JR. company and will do the following:

Come to all rehearsals prepared and on time: You should come to rehearsals with a bottle of water, your script and pencil every time.  Please make sure that you can commit to being at these rehearsals. You are allotted two excused absences for illness or other unforeseen occurrences. Missing more than two unexcused absences will result in your part being forfeited to a replacement. If you are planning to participate in other sports or activities and know that this may cause interference with our rehearsal time, please make us aware of this before auditioning and consider if you are able to make a commitment to the show. 

Learn my part and perform to the best of my abilities: Rehearsal is a time when we come together to practice the show using our sets, blocking and props. It is not the time to learn your lines. You will have to commit to practicing and learning your lines at home. You can do this by having another person read lines with you as you recite them. It is important to know what lines come before and after your own so you know when to speak and how. Create a routine to run your lines at least 20 minutes each day. It is important that you are prepared for rehearsal. Not knowing your lines, results in confusion for the other cast members as well as your lines are a cue for others to do their part. The show simply will not work if we don’t have everyone operating at 100% and working together.Additionally, acting requires voice and body control, always make sure that you are willing to take acting seriously and perform using your whole voice and body as instructed. 

Always be respectful of my teachers and my fellow company members: Putting on a play is like being on a team. There is no person that is more important than any other person. Acting superior to other cast members based on assigned cast roles will absolutely not be tolerated. Additionally, the director is in charge of doing just that- giving the directions. Please do not correct or instruct other actors, as you may not be aware of a change the director may have made. Always ask the director questions that you may have- it is better to know than to guess.  Make sure that you are always encouraging to other actors and respectful to the sets, costumes, props and equipment.

Pitch in when help is needed. Sometimes there is downtime during rehearsal. It is important that you are still paying attention, being respectful and being helpful even if it is not your turn to be on stage. You should bring a water bottle, pencil and script to rehearsal. Toys (squishies), other books/ coloring books and phones/ ipads will not be allowed in class.You may be asked to help with set changes, transitions or other tasks. Make sure you always know what part of the play is being rehearsed and what you could be doing during that part even if you are backstage. 

Have fun : The only point of putting on a show is for the actors to have fun so that the audience will have fun watching them. Being nervous to perform is understandable, but always remember that the more fun you have, the more fun everyone on stage has and the more fun the audience will have. 

I understand that my failure to follow these guidelines may result in my part being reassigned to another cast member.
