The sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems work together to keep your body in balance, each system have opposite roles. The sympathetic nervous system carries signals that put your body’s systems on alert, the parasympathetic nervous system carries signals to relax, rest and restore.
When the body is in sympathetic dominance, it puts tension on both the spine and the nerves and impacts the frequency within the body’s cells. Stress, hardship and suffering throughout our lives can store in the body as tension.
Beneath the body’s protective parts of self, created by feeling unsafe by experiencing prolonged stress or trauma, is our true essence and a deep desire to be and feel whole.
Spinal Energetics can support to calm the nervous system, returning to a parasympathetic state of compassion, ease, acceptance and peace.
For safety reasons, there are some contraindications to this work. This is due to the intense responses that some people experience when releasing trauma.

In a Spinal Energetics session I complete an initial assessment. I then proceed to make light touches on (and off) the spine and other areas of the body, to guide you to cultivate a deep sense of self awareness of your body, including areas of resistance and strength. This may include some verbal cues. During this process you may organically move, experience muscle tremors, express emotions or make sound as you release tension stored in your body and nervous system.
To obtain the most benefit from Spinal Energetics it is recommended to commit to at least 3 sessions.
Initially, having Spinal Energetic appointments close together can be beneficial, as it helps to establish the communication and network between the Spinal Energetics process and your body, finding more depth with each session. I would suggest weekly or fortnightly to start - however this can differ between different people.
Over time, the body will release the stored tension and usually less regular treatments are required.
It is my intention to work with you towards achieving your health and wellness goals and not to promote a reliance on the practitioner.
Each person's response to treatment is unique to them and their life experiences. Some people have an external response where they experience involuntary movement as a result of stagnant energy being shifted and released in the body. Others have a more internal response where they may process old emotions/memories, and connect deeply to their body. Or, individuals may experience a combination of these responses.
When clients are new to spinal energetics, movements may be small and subtle. The level of connection that the client has to their body, thus their response, does increase with each session. Though, it's important to note that the amount of movement does not directly correlate to the depth of benefits that a person may receive during a session.
