With over a decade of experience in the mental health field since 2010, I have primarily focused my practice on working with adults in various stages of development. My work predominantly takes place within community mental health clinics, where I employ a range of therapeutic modalities and approaches tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. I am particularly passionate about utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. In addition to EMDR, I integrate evidence-based techniques such as trauma-focused therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Brainspotting, and mindfulness practices into my work. Cultural competence and diversity are central to my practice, as evidenced by my extensive experience working with gender and sexual minorities and individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds. As a bilingual and bicultural practitioner, I am fluent in Spanish and strive to provide culturally sensitive services that honor the unique identities and experiences of each client.
I have comprehensive experience working with a variety of conditions that impact individuals' engagement with life, such as:
Complex Trauma | The exposure to multiple traumatic events throughout life, including issues of neglect and attachment, often of an invasive, interpersonal nature, causing wide-ranging, long-term effects.
Addiction | Working with issues related to addictive and impulsive behaviors.
Grief | Difficulties processing the natural grieving process and working with traumatic grief.
Dissociation | Working with highly dissociative clients and those who experience structural dissociation.
Pain | Issues related to chronic pain and chronic health conditions.
Intimate Partner Violence | Including different forms of abuse and those who grew up in households affected by IPV.
Sexual Violence | Including sexual abuse, harassment, and sex trafficking.
Immigration Experiences | Including issues with grief and acculturation, first and second generation challenges.
Disorders of Capitalism | Conditions related to coping with structural inequality often present as emotional and mood dysregulation, persistent and heightened anxiety or a sense of unsafety, and a sense of impending hopelessness regarding the future. Often negatively impacting the quality of life of gender, sexual, and ethnic minorities.
