Our research focuses on EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility), particularly on the issue of electromagnetic noise emitted from electric and electronic devices. With the increasing presence of advanced wireless systems that utilize electromagnetic fields—such as fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication systems and wireless power transfer (WPT) systems—it has become crucial not only to enjoy their convenience but also to ensure their safety when used near the human body.
To address these challenges, we conduct research aimed at the safe and secure use of wireless systems from the perspective of the biological electromagnetic environment. Specifically, we are working on the following research topics:
Research on biological effects of millimeter waves (30–300 GHz)
We evaluate the effects on the human eye and conduct assessments related to cellular exposure.
Evaluation of biological effects of intermediate-frequency electromagnetic fields
Our research includes human body dosimetry, evaluation of indirect effects (e.g., contact currents), development of exposure devices for cells and animals, and validation of numerical computation methods.
Efficiency improvement of large-scale numerical electromagnetic field and fluid analysis
We are developing and verifying computational theories that use heterogeneous computing with GPUs and many-core processors to perform large-scale simulations efficiently.
Standardization activities related to biological effects of electromagnetic fields
We also contribute to the standardization of research related to the biological effects of electromagnetic fields.
We are also developing a paper evaluation system using AI, researching SPR sensors using terahertz waves, and researching surrogate models to speed up simulations using neural networks. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us at the address listed below.
