Welcome to the Embedded Researchers Project

What influence do embedded researchers have in public health settings?

Embedding researchers into policy and other settings might be a way to enhance research capacity and enable greater involvement in research from consumers, commissioners, stakeholders and other influencers. However, the evidence around whether this is an effective strategy is uncertain.

We want to know what are the features of different embedded researcher ‘interventions’ and how can these influence organisations to become more research active.

We are particularly interested in NIHR Clinical Research Network funded Public Health Practitioner (CRN-PRP) roles as a form of embedded researcher. We want to explore how they facilitate and enhance cultures of research engagement and activity within Local Authority public health teams.

This research project is being led by the EPPI-Centre at University College London. You can read more about the project and what we hope to achieve on these pages.
