Research Interests: Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on Computer Vision (CV), Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI), Virtual Reality (VR), Cybersecurity, and Biometrics.
I am an expert in designing and developing AI algorithms, including pattern recognition strategies for extracting domain-specific features, advanced deep learning techniques, and information fusion methods to enhance security. I serve as the Lead Principal Investigator (PI) for grants provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF). I am an Inventor with a patent for biometric-based multi-factor authentication (MFA) technologies. I am the first author of a publication in ACM Computing Surveys, which has an Impact Factor of 28.
Previously, I held postdoctoral positions in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), under the supervision of Dr. Bojan Cukic, and in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU), where I was a member of the iProbe Lab supervised by Dr. Arun Ross. I earned a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, followed by a Ph.D. in Computer and Automation Engineering, both from the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), under the supervision of Prof. Carlo Sansone.
