Research Interests: Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a focus on Computer Vision (CV), Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI), Virtual Reality (VR), Cybersecurity, and Biometrics.
I am an expert in designing AI algorithms, including pattern recognition, deep learning, and information fusion techniques to enhance security. I served as the Lead Principal Investigator (PI) for grants provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF). I am an Inventor with a patent for biometric-based multi-factor authentication (MFA) technologies.
Previously, I served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Sciences and Technology at George Mason University within the College of Engineering and Computing, where I directed the Cyber Security and Biometric Research (CySBeR) Lab. I also held postdoctoral positions in Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), supervised by Dr. Bojan Cukic, and in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at West Virginia University (WVU), where I was a member of the iProbe Lab supervised by Dr. Arun Ross. I earned a combined Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, followed by a Ph.D. in Computer and Automation Engineering, both from the University of Naples Federico II (Italy), supervised by Prof. Carlo Sansone.
