Juhyeong Lee, PhD

Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering


Dr. Juhyeong Lee received his B.S. in Material Science and Engineering from Chonnam National University (South Korea) in 2004, and earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the Mississippi State University (MSU) in 2010 and 2017, respectively. Prior to joining USU, he completed postdoc training at MSU Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems in 2018 and Bristol Composites Institute (ACCIS) of University of Bristol in 2019. His research focuses on materials under extreme conditions, high-performance, multifunctional composites, computational mechanics, damage tolerance, finite element analysis.

Md Tareq Hassan

Md Tareq Hassan graduated from Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET), Bangladesh and he will join MSCIM lab as a Ph.D. student in the Fall 23 semester. Tareq's research interest is the development of novel composite materials for automotive and aerospace applications.

Samiul Alam

He received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) in Bangladesh. Samiul's research interests are focused on additive manufacturing and composite materials. His previous research has included work on 3D printed cellular structures, thermal behavior of nozzle arrangements in 3D printing, hybrid laminated composites, heat transfer characteristics of aluminum and copper heat spreaders, modification of biochar production process from waste biomass, and performance optimization of vertical axis wind turbines.

Devin Nielsen

Devin Nielsen is a Graduate Student pursuing his Master's in mechanical engineering at Utah State University. Devin completed his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with an Aerospace emphasis in the winter of 2023 as Mechanical and Aerospace Valedictorian. In the Summer of 2023 Devin completed an internship for the composite multiscale analysis division at the NASA Glenn Research Center. His Current research is primarily focused on multiscale analysis of composite systems undergoing thermal loading using a combination of ABAQUS finite element software and the NASA Multiscale Analysis Tool (NASMAT). He is a recipient of the 2024 the NASA Space Technology Graduate Research Opportunity (NSTGRO24).

Chase Mortensen

Chase Mortensen is an undergraduate researcher focusing on multiscale modeling and structure optimization of foldcore sandwich composites. He is admitted to the USU College of Engineering Undergraduate Research Program (EURP) for Fall 2022. Chase is pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
