Our second preliminary task was to create a performance video. A performance video encompasses any type of movement captured within a video preferably with the actor dancing to a set choreography to the song.
These are our performance video behind the scenes of the shoot
As we had previously been in a group with Zoraiz and Alishba, I had already recorded a performance video, so this task was not my first try. However, because Rania was the Performer in this preliminary work, I had to take on numerous duties, including cameraman, editor, and co-director. It was challenging attempting to do all of these tasks. I've done photography with a DSLR, but no filming. Handling the camera and getting an accurate shot was a demanding operation that required sharp focus and a steady hand. However, because many of the photos were steady and not too dynamic given that this was our first preliminary, the camera work was easy and taught me how to handle the ISO, shutter speed, and aperture during video settings rather than just still photography.
Co-directing was uncomplicated because I created the storyboard and assisted in judging a few acts Rania threw at me. However, this was the first time I sat in front of my laptop attempting to edit a video, and it was certainly a learning experience. Adobe Premiere Pro is an advanced software that can be scary at first, but with practice, you'll get the swing of it. This preliminary task allowed me to take charge of basic activities such as editing, making a sequence, and adding a few cliche effects, but overall, I gained a decent understanding of how Adobe Premiere works, allowing me to progress in competence for the final music video development.
