Research interests

I am a low-dimensional topologist, with a particular interest in knot theory and 3-manifold triangulations. I care about triangulations that are enlightening (perhaps they reveal or highlight topological features of the manifold), or simple (particularly in the context of algorithmic complexity). I frequently use hyperbolic geometry to understand cusped 3-manifolds, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about the A-polynomials of hyperbolic knots. I'm also interested in adjacent problems involving character varieties, cluster algebras, symplectic geometry and quantum invariants.
