Environmental Leadership Program

The Environmental Leadership Program is an interdisciplinary community-based learning program that aims to foster collaboration between students and various non-profit organizations, government agencies, and businesses. The program focuses on addressing environmental issues identified by the community in a mutually beneficial manner. The main objective of the Environmental Leadership Program is to create partnerships between students and community organizations. By working together, students gain valuable hands-on experience and knowledge while contributing to the resolution of environmental challenges. At the same time, community organizations benefit from the fresh perspectives, energy, and expertise that students bring to the table.

The Climate Science Climate Justice team of the Environmental Leadership Program strives to utilize environmental education to educate middle schoolers by building a connection to place and inspiring environmental stewardship. Our team accomplished this mission through 4 different interdisciplinary lesson plans based on Phenology, Microclimates, Climate Justice, and Tree Identification.Â
