This project was presented as our team participation for the TodasJammers game jam in 2017.
During three days, we designed and developed a one level simple sneaky game with a team of four members.
My partners in this short but intense experience were:
BlueLen as concept artist and 2D animator. She designed the protagonist (our pug hero), the enemies (lantern-armed guards) and the escenario graphic assets. Our protagonist, the little bouncy pug wouldn't be possible without her work.
Kiarton as composer and sound effect creator. She composed the main background theme in record time using actual barks and made it easy for us to have enough effect sounds for the game.
Zak as programmer. He developed the AI for the enemies based on the concept for the game and the interaction of the character with the environment.
And me, of course.
In this project, I had multiple roles. I was mainly a producer, asking everyone about the development of their assigned tasks and adjusting the schedule to the remaining time of the jam. My second rol was level designer, using the mechanics we were able to develop, I designed a map and the disposition of the enemies. And the third role, layout designer, I developed the layout of the game using the graphics, animations music and sounds provided by our artists. But that wasn't my last role, at some point near the end of the jam, I had the roles of programmer assistant and debugger.
It was a hard but enriching experience and I would love to participate in another jam. And I learnt that a good well-developed mechanic is enough to make a entertaining game.
