The adult choir group typically meets Wednesday evenings. The group learns music and has time for fellowship. If you are interested you can fill out the 'Connect with Us' form.
Our kitchen crew works together to prepare foods for church events or the community. You can often taste our delicious soups or gobs around election time.
Elton's Outreach Committee serves and supports various mission projects within the local community and beyond. Through donations from the congregation and fundraising, Elton has granted financial support to local causes such as the Forest Hill Food Pantry, UPJ Campus Ministry, and Bible2School to name a few. We welcome new ideas for ways to show our love for Christ with others.
Please see Carol Chappie for questions, mission ideas, or upcoming volunteer opportunities.
The men's group typically meets once per month and hosts several activities throughout the year.
Our Sunday School ranges for children ages Kindergarten through sixth grade. We have anywhere from one to three classes on a Sunday morning depending on the attendance of children. Sunday school takes place during the Sunday worship service.
We have spent the last several years trying to grow our youth group in nontraditional ways. We currently, have taken the group outside of the four walls of the church building and into the community. Our group has several meeting spots: church, local fire departments, members homes, or even around a campfire. We have currently merged our youth group with Mt. Olive Global Methodist Church and we accept children of any school age. We participate with them and other youth groups in the area to attend events with other local Christian organizations like the Laurel Highlands FCA or the United Group of Johnstown. Our youth group meets twice a month on the first and third Thursday of each month. Check out our calendar for locations and times. Please check out our youth group Facebook page for more information or get ahold of us through the church contact information provided on the website.
Every summer, Elton Zion Church hosts a Vacation Bible School for children in grades 6 and under. This is one of the best weeks of the summer! Starting on Sunday, the students learn a different Bible lesson each evening. The lesson is reinforced through games, music, crafts, and other fun activities. Adults and teens also have fun as they help lead groups of kids or activities. The VBS week finishes when the children present a Thursday evening program for families with fellowship and refreshments afterward.
Stay tuned for VBS 2025 details!
