Description of the gap between what is (reality) and what should be (the ideal)
The situation is that prospective students are constantly calling and inquiring about the fully online Educational Technology program. They have wondered what an Educational Technologist does, what they are able to do with their degree, as well as what the salary is. Because of this, the Educational Technology coordinator has contacted the ELTECHS to design an instructional multimedia solution.
Resier and Dempsey state that educational technologists are responsible for the systematic design of instruction and the use of media for instructional purposes (Reiser & Dempsey, 2018, p.5). The ideal solution would be for the prospective students to know what the field of Educational Technology is and the opportunities available to them.
Recommended instructional solution for filling the identified gap
To fill the identified gap, our team will design a 3-5 minute multimedia video presentation for the prospective students. It will include information regarding the role of the Educational Technologist, prospective careers in the field, and potential salary.

This multimedia training will focus on three goals.
Explain the role of the Educational Technologist
Identify careers that have a need for Educational Technologists
Discuss the salaries that are offered to Educational Technologists.
