The Green Room represents a dramatic culmination, merging Upstage's production, "The Waiting Room," with the Grade 9 Drama students' exam piece, "Limbo." Both productions revolve around the theme of waiting, a concept deeply embedded in theatre, where the Green Room serves as the space where actors await their turn to perform.
In "The Waiting Room," we delve into the lives of two high school girls grappling with formidable challenges due to illness. Leah, one of the girls, clings to hope and her faith in God to find meaning in her predicament. In doing so, she influences Jenna, who was a dancer, to perceive her own situation from a different perspective.
Meanwhile, "Limbo" introduces us to six characters: Violet, Sky, Blaze, Scarlet, Ivy, and Mrs. White. All of them find themselves in the enigmatic realm of Limbo. Through Mrs. White, they gradually unravel the purpose of their presence in Limbo and are faced with the opportunity to make the right choice IF a second chance is granted.
Seussical Photos
Seussical takes us on a journey into the whimsical world of Dr. Seuss, where we revisit beloved characters such as The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and JoJo. The Cat in the Hat serves as our guide, leading us into The Jungle of Nool, where we meet Horton, a kind-hearted elephant who discovers a tiny speck of dust containing the miniature town of Whoville. He also meets JoJo, a young Who-child who was sent to military school for thinking too many "thinks."
Horton vows to protect the speck of dust on a nearby clover while also caring for an abandoned egg that the lazy Mayzie la Bird left in his charge. However, when he tries to convince the other animals in The Jungle of the existence of the Whos, he is ridiculed and put on trial for insanity. Despite the odds stacked against him, Seussical weaves a tale of friendship, loyalty, and love. Horton and Gertrude band together to save the Whos, free Horton, and restore peace and unity to The Jungle of Nool. This charming Seussical musical teaches us the power of being unique and the importance of fighting for our beliefs.
