I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with my PhD in Biological Sciences in 2019. My dissertation and research to-date has focused extensively on social drivers of biodiversity patterns in cities, which is where most people worldwide live and engage with the environment.
I have over 15 years of environmental, zoo, and outdoor education experience, ranging from helping small children engage with nature through working with adult volunteers who are interested in environmental restoration work. I am a firm believer in experience being the best way to learn about the world, at any age!
I experience the world through the blending of artistic and analytical frameworks. My current projects examine how creative practices and expressions shape how we see and conserve nature, and I approach this both in my scientific work and in my creative writing and personal art.
Looking forward, I am most excited about projects that explore and empower our collective humanity. I am keen to offer my expertise in environmental sciences, ecology, and education to help build healthy and fulfilling bridges between people and their environment
