Take a look at some of what we've done!
ELS Students and teachers participate in a variety of school-wide activities. This is a great way to build community even when we are far apart!
Teacher Appreciation 2023
We are so happy to wish our teachers a very happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Here at ELS, teaching English is our mission — and our teachers are what make that mission possible! Our teachers prepare and deliver fun and informative lessons. They do LOTS of grading to give our students the corrections and feedback they need to improve. But more than that, they build relationships with their students that make learning possible. We cannot say "thank you" enough!
We asked our students to tell us a little bit about there teachers, and here are just a few of the wonderful things they had to say!
Earth Day Celebration, 2023
Earth Day was celebrated on May 22, 2023. To celebrate, we gathered on May 24. We watched a video about Earth Day, played a Kahoot game, and brainstormed ways that we can contribute to conservation. Check out our Jamboards from this event!
Positivity Playlists
For the past two years, our session 1 American Experience theme has been "Music". In Session 1, 2022, we spent a lot of time discussing music. One important role that music can play in our lives is affecting our mood. We talked about how music can positively affect our feelings, and we shared our uplifitng music with each other. Interestingly, music that improves the mood of someone may not necessarily be "happy" music, but can be music that triggers a positive memory or makes the listener feel comforted for another reason.
Each class worked together to create a "positivity playlist." This is music that makes us feel better for whatever reason! Click on the playlists below to share in our positivity!

Three-sentence Stories
In session 3, 2022, we discuss creative writing. One way that we practiced creative writing was by writing three sentence stories. Being very short, three-sentence stories try to give the reader an image or a feeling and make them say "huh?" and wonder what happens next.
Here are some selections of three-sentence stories written by our students.
