Biography
El Reid-Buckley (they/them) is a sociologist and writer based in Limerick, Ireland. They have recently completed a PhD in Sociology on bisexualities in post-marriage equality Ireland. They also are a collage artist and zine maker under the moniker, mother marx. Their research, writing and artistic practice is broadly focused on issues of genders and sexualities; with research interests in a wide number of areas such as trans theory, pop culture, media studies, archival and memorial practices, and the politics of space. Overall, their work aims to connect art, academia, and activism, to celebrate the beauty, joy, and diversity of queerness and trans identity.

A collaborative zine edited by mankyy and mother marx, featuring over 30 artists (from Ireland, China, Africa, New Zealand and the UK) trying to find connection during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Published as part of The Feminist Supermarket at Ormston House.
A collaborative zine designed by Anna Blair, and written by Dr. John Logan and El Reid-Buckley, exploring the hidden queer histories of Limerick City. Created as part of ALLTAR: a queer community group based in Limerick City, founded and facilitated by El Reid-Buckley.
