VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!

Are you crafty? Do you enjoy party planning? Can you run a copy machine? Do you have great ideas? There are many ways to contribute through PTA both on campus and from home. All are welcome!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join PTA? Joining PTA benefits both your child and the school. PTA events are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport, and discuss ideas or concerns.
When are meetings? Meetings are held once a month. Majority of meetings are in the morning, but we do offer evening meetings to meet the needs of those unavailable during the day.
How can I volunteer? We have something for everybody! You are welcome to do as little or as much as you like. Here's a list of some ways you can help out: Join a committee (ex: Yearbook, Grade Level, Spirit Gear, Spring Fair, etc.), help setup at events, morning crosswalk duty, make copies, and so many other ways!
Can I only volunteer on-campus? Nope! There are many ways you can participate in the pockets of your time from home. Are you good with technology? Are you able to book restaurant nights? Do you have connections in the community? Reach out to us and we can definitely find a way for you to help.

Lorie McGill

PRESIDENT

Hi! My name is Lorie McGill and I am excited to serve as your 2023/2024 PTA President. I have 2 kids at EP; Mikey (5th grade) & Ellie (2nd grade). I have been part of our PTA for 6 years and also serve on School Site Council. In addition to being a volunteer at El Portal, I am also privileged to be our school’s librarian. I am grateful that I get to share my love of reading with our students along with providing them the chance to grow their own appreciation for books. I love being part of our school’s support and part of building our campus community! Please feel free to say “Hi!” when you see me!

Carrie Coutts

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT

Hi! My name is Sean Prada and I’m excited to be a part of the PTA board for the second year. I have a second grader here at El Portal and a 2 year old future Panther at home. I can’t wait to help with all the exciting events we have planned for this coming school year! If you see me around be sure to say hi and feel free to ask how to get involved!

1st VICE PRESIDENT(Enrichment)

I am dad to a second grader here at El Portal and a future Panther at home. I’m excited to help plan the on campus enrichment activities this year! This is my third year with the PTA and I’m looking forward to getting to know more EP families.
I’m also the PTA’s Event Coordinator Chair. You might catch me setting up a 30 foot long balloon arch or doubling as a real life Elf on the Shelf! Feel free to ask me how you can help with all of the amazing events we’ve got planned this year!

My name is Krista Rantzow, this is my 3rd year on the PTA board but this will be my 5th year helping out the PTA. I have 4 children Justin (28) Savannah (16), Dylan (3rd Grade), & Kennedy (Kinder). I cannot wait to have a fun filled school year. Cheers to 23/24!

Donna Burch

Communications

Heyyyyy! My name is Donna Burch, and I am the 2023/2024 PTA Communications this year. This is my first year on the board and I am excited! I am a parent of 2 boys & 1 girl. Aaron is now a 7th grader at Rancho, Parker is a 1st grader here at El Portal, & Jaxson who is in preschool. I love volunteering in the classrooms and helping my our school be the best it can be. I look forward to seeing you all throughout the year and at all of our events!

Hi Panther Families! My name is Cecila and I am your PTA treasurer. This is my third year volunteering for PTA and my last as treasurer. I have two kids, Olivia who is in 8th grade and Francisco who is in 1st grade. I'm looking forward to helping put together some amazing school events this school year.

HISTORIAN

My name is Brian Figgins. This is my third year on the El Portal PTA Board. I spent my first two years as VP of Ways and Means. I have three students that attend El Portal a second grader, third grader, and a fourth grader. I look forward to serving the board as historian for the upcoming school year.

Hi my name is Carrie Coutts this year I am your PTA VP. I am mom to three children Alexandrea 25(forever), Joleen 17 and Austin 11 and a wife of twenty-one years to Jake. I also have a grandson named Skyler who is 3. I’ve been on the PTA board for the last nine years. I’ve been involved with the PTA for the past 11 years at El Portal. You see me a lot around campus because I also work as a noon duty aide. My biggest reward for putting so many hours into PTA is the smile on the kids' faces.

Hello Everyone! My name is Shelley Yoo, and I am the 2023/2024 PTA Board Secretary. This is my first year on the board, and my third year as a PTA member. I have two daughters at El Portal. Hendrix is in 2nd grade and Marley is in 1st grade. I am excited to actively support the El Portal Community and look forward to a great year!
