One of the greatest benefits of joining PTA is that it helps teachers to understand students from the parent's perspective and vice versa. It helps parents to know all about the functioning of the school, problems and so on. It works towards making the school better and the best place to get a quality education.

Are you crafty? Do you enjoy party planning? Can you run a copy machine? Do you have great ideas? There are many ways to contribute through PTA both on campus and from home. All are welcome!

Why should I join PTA? Joining PTA benefits both your child and the school. PTA events are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport, and discuss ideas or concerns.
When are meetings? Meetings are held once a month. Meetings are in the evening on zoom, so you can join while at soccer practice, cooking dinner, etc.
How can I volunteer? We have something for everybody! You are welcome to do as little or as much as you like. Here's a list of some ways you can help out: Join a committee (ex: Yearbook, PTA Association Meetings, Spirit Gear, Fall Picnic, etc.), help setup at events, morning crosswalk duty, make copies, and so many other ways!
Can I only volunteer on-campus? Nope! There are many ways you can participate in the pockets of your time from home. Are you good with technology? Are you able to book restaurant nights? Do you have connections in the community? Reach out to us and we can definitely find a way for you to help.

PRESIDENTMy name is Sean Prada and I’m excited to be a part of the PTA board for the third year. I have a third grader here at El Portal and a 3 year old future Panther at home. EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENTHi! My name is Lorie McGill and I am excited to serve as your 2024/2025 PTA Vice President. I have 2 kids at EP; Mikey (6th grade) & Ellie (3rd grade). I have been part of our PTA for 7 years. In addition to being a volunteer at El Portal, I am also privileged to be our school’s librarian. I am grateful that I get to share my love of reading with our students along with providing them the chance to grow their own appreciation for books. I love being part of our school’s support and part of building our campus community!

Hi Panther Families! My name is Cecila and I am your PTA Auditor. This is my fourth year volunteering for PTA and my last as treasurer. I have two kids, Olivia who is in 9th grade at LHHS and Francisco who is in 2nd grade. I'm looking forward to helping put together some amazing school events this school year.

1st VP of EnrichmentHi my name is Carrie Coutts this year I am your PTA 1st VP Enrichment. I am mom to three children Alexandrea 25(forever), Joleen, who is off to WyoTech in Wyoming to become a welder & Austin is a 7th grader at Rancho Starbuck. I'm a wife of twenty-two years to Jake. I also have a grandson named Skyler who is 5. I’ve been on the PTA board for the last 13 years. You see me a lot around campus because I also work as a instructional aid. My biggest reward for putting so many hours into PTA is the smile on the kids' faces.
