For those who haven't seen me here before, I'm an indie developer of various free WearOS apps. For my latest app, I wanted to extend my own watch usage for something new and a bit different than before. As a keen tennis player, I started thinking about how the watch might be able to help me with my game. I wrote Tennis Swing Analyser for my own use, but I'm also making it available for free to anyone else who is interested. If you aren't an active tennis player, no need to read any further :-)

Anyone still with me? If so, here's some more information. As the name implies, Tennis Swing Analyser is an app for analysing your tennis swing. The app uses the sensors in your WearOS watch to recognise the tennis shots that you play, and can tell you the swing speed and swing time for each stroke. Optionally the app can also give you information about your wrist rotation, arm rotation and wrist elevation as you play the shot.

On Android TV the app is borderline unusable because the frame rate is so bad. Tennis is a sport which could benefit a ton from 60 FPS but here we are, looks like about 15. On the iPad the image is constantly skipping, absolutely unwatchable. The only way the app is more or less working the way it's supposed to is on my smartphone, but who wants to watch tennis matches on a 5 inch screen?! Is this what I'm paying 120 bucks a year for? The old app worked flawlessly, and now we have this crap.

Not so keen on simulation? Want a little instant gratification? Stick Tennis has your number. With lightning-quick gameplay, an easy control scheme focused on timings rather than positioning and an endearing art style, it should be near the top of your list if you are a fan of tennis in any way.

Seasoned tennis gamers will no doubt remember the Virtua Tennis games, released by Sega for various consoles across the 00s. Featuring quick arcade-y gameplay, they were a mainstay of the genre for years - and have now made their way to mobile.

Going again down the very instant route is Timber Tennis, by Digital Melody. A title which comes served with a healthy dollop of humour, this sees the player battling against fellow tennis players with balls, fireballs, bombs and more - all at a breakneck clip. Characters from previous games by the developer make an appearance too, replete with their lumber-related regalia and pixel art stylings.

In the mobile management genre, few developers have carved such an expansive niche as Kairosoft. Here the prolific game-maker has turned its magic hands to the tennis management genre, producing a title which is both addictive and hugely charming.

Virtua Tennis Challenge is the second spin-off to Sega's tennis game franchise, Virtua Tennis. It was released on iOS and Android, as the only mobile Virtua Tennis game in the series. Ultimate Tennis is a game that uses typical elements from RPGs and creates a unique gaming experience for Android. You can create your own tennis player, customize dozen of different options, and try to become the best player in the world.

In the beginning you can choose from three different tennis players (women and men). Each has its own attributes, so some of them might be better at defending while others are good playing close to the net, etc., but in any case you can improve these attributes independently.

Can you please add "Squash" to the list of sports activities users can select? I have been playing this sport for many years and would like to see it made available as an option. If this is too specific for you - I see both squash and tennis have had numerous requests before - then at least consider adding "Racquet Sports" as a general category. Seriously, this request can't be that difficult to accommodate.

It appears squash has finally been added. I was confused that my renamed tennis came up as tennis in the connect app. I investigated further on the connect site on my computer and I can now change the activity type from tennis to actually squash. I haven't figured out if there is now a stock squash app yet, but that would be the utopia.

Yes we have previously uninstalled and reinstalled the tennis channel app multiple times even restarting the roku device but always get the same problem. We even reset the roku to factory settings but again installing the tennis channel app still crashes.
