Every public business is required to maintain and publish a balance sheet showing assets and liabilities. A roughly equivalent document for a forest is a timber cruise. The Society of American Foresters defines a timber cruise as:
“a forest survey to locate and estimate the quantity of timber on a given area according to species, size, quality, possible products or other characteristics” (SAF 1998).
Over the years a variety of timber cruises have been made on the Elliott State Forest. This page will collect and publish the results of all timber cruises that we can locate.
