Elliott Vest

Welcome all! I am currently a fifth year graduate student at University of California, Riverside. My research interest include geometric group theory, and I am specifically looking into hierarchical hyperbolic spaces, CAT(0) spaces, and sublinear Morse boundaries under the supervision of Matthew Gentry Durham.

My true passion, however, is teaching. Ever since I started as a tutor at my community college in 2016, I've developed a drive to empower students and help those around me as much as possible when it comes to mathematics. Since then, I've been a Supplemental Instructor, Teacher's Assistant, Associate-In Professor, and a TA mentor. I hope to one day achieve a position at a community college near the Central Valley of California, where I grew up.

Outside of my academic career and teaching goals, I love the outdoors. Specifically, my family has a cabin at Bass Lake (pictured above) that I try to visit whenever I can. Some hobbies I have are playing piano, playing poker, going to the gym, destroying my opponents at ping pong, bowling, and roleplaying Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. Below is my contact info.
