We departed from the Pallazzo Bed & Breakfast in Ladybrand and travelled along the Lesotho Border. We travelled through Hobhouse, to Wepener where Sean’s Suzuki decided to relieve itself of some weight in the form of the chain guard and centre stand. I loaded the parts into my Pannier and we continued. We stopped at a lovely little place called Kotteljonsie Tea Garden in Zastron for a coffee break. After about 45km outside Zastron we turned off the R392 onto the R393 towards the Lesotho Border. This is rural countryside and you pass through a number of villages.
The farm roads around Ladybrand takes one through scenic countryside.
The gravel road took us along the scenic Tele River. The winding gravel road took us up Lundeen’s Nek Pass to an altitude of 2,162m.
After descending the pass we turned right onto a gravel road just before the road changed to tar to enjoy the rural backroads until it joined up with the R58 tar road near Barkley East.
We arrived in Eliot and booked into the Rose Garden Bed & Breakfast. Eliot does not have a lot to offer in terms of restaurants, however we did find Langhurst Restaurant that was open on Saturday evening with a beautiful view overlooking the town of Eliot.
What a beautiful country we live in, perfect for adventure motorbike riders
