In the academic year 2023-2024 I designed and taught an advanced course on the Economics of Education at the PhD level.
100% of students agreed "very much" that they were satisfied with the course, organisation/preparation, clarity of presentations and explanations, teaching with interest and enthusiasm, and encouraging class participation.
In this role, I also contributed to the Economics Department by providing feedback to PhD researchers on their presentations and papers.
Reviews from students:
“Ellen was really great. She teaches with enthusiam, knows her topic super well and is very clear. I was a delight to follow her class. Also the methodological parts, which go beyond the exact topic of the class were super useful.”
“Ellen is a great lecturer, very responsive and organized. The course was clear and helpful. I really appreciate her work.”
“The best teacher I ever had.”
"Overall, this course was great to deepen my understanding of the economics of education field, but above that, I think it's going to be fundamental in my career as a researcher in economics."
I was a teaching assistant on a final year undergraduate unit at the University of Bristol.
Applied Economics: Current Economic Problems equips students to critically analyse and assess academic literature related to current issues.
I have attended Economics Network training and specific training for teaching online.
Reviews from students:
Ellen was extremely good at explaining each paper presented in class, and also in stimulating conversation within the group. One of the best tutorial classes I have been a part of while at Bristol.
Ellen has been a brilliant tutor and has always encouraged good group discussion through her enthusiasm, thank you Ellen!
Ellen was amazing! Super helpful and clear. Really good!
