Ella Fitzgerald died on June 15th 1996 in her home. Fitzgerald's effect on the jazz world will never be forgotten. She recorded over 2,000 songs, earned fourteen Grammys, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She stood up for Civil Rights and helped spread the creations of other Black musicians around the world. She inspired other jazz artists and is a household name in American jazz history.Â
