Eliza has been making up stories her whole life, beginning in her early years acting out various imagined plots with her brother in the window of her childhood home and writing out handmade "books" based on those imaginings. This passion for storytelling has never faded, branching out further into the writing of short stories and screenplays during high school and college. Since the age of 13, Eliza has been developing and writing her first novel - a fantasy-adventure story - which has undergone a great many drafts and reinventions. That novel remains the creative project closest to her heart, and she is going to finish writing it this year. For real this time. She promises.
Poetry has been a constant presence in Eliza's creative practice since partway through high school, and one which continues to evolve - from directly inspiring her work in songwriting to being a medium she continues to return to in its own right. Eliza was also involved in spoken-word poetry throughout her college years and performed her work at several open mic nights on campus and in the community. Two of her poems have been published in Open Field (Cornell College's literary magazine), and she is writing her first full-length collection, a hybrid work of poetry and prose.
