Before your appointment, gather the following:
The document to be notarized: Make sure it is complete and correct, as a notary cannot fill in or correct the document's content. Do not sign just yet please wait till you are in the presence of the notary to sign.
Valid, government-issued photo ID: A driver's license, passport, or state ID is typically accepted. Must not be expired and must have it with you at the time of the appt. Pictures will not be accepted.
Payment for the notary's services: Confirm the accepted payment methods with the notary in advance.
Information about witnesses: If your document requires witnesses, you'll need to let the notary know in advance and you are responsible for providing them. They must not be immediate family members living in your household, they are not named in the document or transaction, and must have valid ID.
