Course Description: Why do some organizations succeed but others fail? And what can be done about it? The answer to these questions is consequential to professional success because people spend most of their lives as part of one organization or another. This course explores key determinants of organizations' successes or failures, and examines strategies that can be used to navigate challenging organizational dynamics. Topics include social and professional networks, social capital, organizational networks, diversity/equity/inclusion in firms, organizational culture, organizational design, corruption in networks and firms, organizational scandals and reputations, and managing change in firms. Negotiation and Conflict Management

Course description: This course addresses a broad spectrum of negotiation issues that managers and professionals face, including topics such as preparing for negotiations, first offers, distributive and integrative negotiation strategies, working with agents, ethics in negotiations, disputes, mediation and conflict resolution, coalitions, multi-party negotiations, negotiation teams, communication and technology in negotiations, culture, reputations and negotiation styles, and assessing when not to negotiate.Â
